Chemical Name: KETOCONAZOLE (kee-toe-KOE-na-zole)

Common uses
This medicine is an antifungal used to reduce scaling associated with dandruff.

Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking astemizole or terfenadine. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Directions
Use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor. MOISTEN HAIR AND SCALP with water. Apply enough shampoo to wash your scalp and hair. Gently massage the entire scalp, leaving the shampoo on for about 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, then dry your hair as you normally do. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light.

Cautions
DO NOT TAKE SELDANE (terfenadine) OR HISMANAL (astemizole) while using this medicine. KEEP THIS MEDICINE OUT of your eyes, nose, and mouth. If this occurs, wash with water and contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Before you use this medicine, tell your doctor if you have been using other topical medicines for the same problem. STOP USING THIS MEDICINE and contact your doctor if you develop a rash or other sign of irritation. USING THIS MEDICINE ON HAIR that has been permanently waved may cause a loss of the curl. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include unusual oiliness or dryness of your hair and scalp. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience a rash, soreness, or itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
