Chemical Name: ONDANSETRON (on-DAN-se-tron)

Common uses
This medicine is an antiemetic used to prevent nausea and vomiting. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before using
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Directions
Use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE STARTED BEFORE your cancer treatment or surgery. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS FOLLOWING CANCER TREATMENT OR SURGERY UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO BY YOUR DOCTOR. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.

Cautions
TO PREVENT OR REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF NAUSEA OR VOMITING, continue taking this medicine for the entire time recommended by your doctor even if you do not notice any nausea. IF YOU CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE MODERATE TO SEVERE NAUSEA OR VOMITING while using this medicine, check with your doctor. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take any more doses of this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include headache, constipation, stomach pain, or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children.
